Dixon Hall Neighbourhood Services (the Agency) is currently accepting applications from qualified candidates for the position of Manager, Philanthropy. 

Working collaboratively and strategically with the Director of Philanthropy and Communications, we are seeking candidates for the Manager, Philanthropy role who will thrive in the role of advancing Dixon Hall’s mission by ensuring the continued growth of our philanthropic portfolio. The successful candidate’s primary area of responsibility will be individual giving (including monthly giving) including accountability for solicitation and engagement of both new and existing individual donors. They will do this without losing sight of the larger objectives of the Philanthropy and Communications team and while providing support for other areas of giving, including corporate and foundation donors. The successful candidate will demonstrate both high-energy and the ability to multi-task as a fundraiser.

Responsibilities:

Dixon Hall is seeking a candidate who will:

  • Work with Philanthropy and Communications team to meet or exceed annual fundraising goals and revenue targets, with particular focus on gifts of up to $5,000.
  • Create and execute 3-4 online giving campaigns each year.
  • Work to create and maintain existing mid-level donor program.
  • Be an ‘out-the-door’ fundraiser allocating a significant portion of your time to donor-facing activities.
  • Implement account management and moves management strategies (discover, cultivate, connect, invite, acknowledge, fulfill, service) to ensure assigned donors are cultivated toward their full giving potential, identifying potential major donors to the organization.
  • Create and execute 2 direct mail campaigns each year.
  • Support all third party fundraising events, and proactively seek out new groups to host third party fundraisers in support of Dixon Hall.
  • Proactively steward current and new donors through regular updates, invitations to events and site visits.
  • Maintain regular communications with stakeholders.
  • Ensure appropriate and timely donor recognition.
  • Work closely with Dixon Hall’s program teams to translate departmental needs into compelling cases for support that convey the impact of our services in order to drive philanthropic initiatives.
  • Support in planning and execution of Dixon Hall’s fundraising events.
  • Support for other areas of fundraising including corporate, foundation, peer-to-peer, as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree in business, finance, accounting, or a related field required.
  • 3 - 5 years’ experience in philanthropy, sales or a similar field; 5+ years of work experience in the public sector and/or a not-for-profit setting preferred.
  • Proven track record in account management.
  • Demonstrated ability to reach ambitious revenue goals.
  • Able to multi-task and exhibit consistent follow-through, and work under time constraints.
  • Understanding of how to and experienced with reaching donors through a variety of digital platforms (e-marketing, social media, website).
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to relate with different levels of stakeholders, interpreting complex programs and ideas to a varied audience.
  • Ability to take initiative to ensure results.
  • Solutions-oriented; High level of analysis and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts leading to a solution.
  • Aptitude for making sound decisions in a timely manner.
  • Self-directed and independent, as well as proven experience in working effectively as an inter-disciplinary team member and in collaboration with other community professionals
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Proven track-record in securing new gifts, and managing donor relationships and partnerships.
  • Ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Creative, curious and eager to try new approaches to achieve results.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong ability to exchange knowledge.
  • Strong writing and speaking English language skills; fluency in a second language will be considered an asset.
  • Superior critical and logical thinking, organizational, analytical, problem solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines, prioritize, take initiative.
  • Self-directed and independent, as well as proven experience in working effectively as an inter-disciplinary team member and in collaboration with other community professionals.
  • Available to occasionally work a variable schedule including some evenings and weekends.
  • Qualified to work in Canada.
  • Able to provide a Vulnerable Sector Screening check with a “Clear” or satisfactory result that meets the operational requirements of the agency.
