Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of Philanthropy, the Manager, Stewardship & Donor Engagement champions opportunities to engage current and prospective donors, recognize their contribution in sustained positive and mutually rewarding relations, and ensure that every supporter feels appreciated and connected to the organization.
The Manager, Stewardship & Donor Engagement also oversees the development and execution of signature fundraising events and initiatives that will engage the public and provide new revenue streams for the organization. The Manager, Stewardship & Donor Engagement will develop and implement a comprehensive donor relations and event plan to help Daily Bread reach its strategic fundraising goals and will provide leadership to organization-wide initiatives.

Strategy and Leadership
  Develop multi-year, multi-tier strategies and programs for stewardship, recognition and engagement that bring creativity and authenticity to the portfolio.
  Design and implement a creative framework for donor engagement and stewardship.
  Lead the development of plans and tactics in support of strategic priorities.
  Develop and execute events for recognition, engagement and/or fundraising.
  Participate in strategies and work directly with other development managers for major giving, annual giving, corporate partnerships, in-kind (food, services, other) donations to ensure a well-managed and coordinated approach to overall donor engagement and stewardship.

Donor Relations
 Work with staff and volunteers across the organization to ensure best and consistent practices for recognition and stewardship and to design and implement complex donor engagement and stewardship projects that involve monetary and in-kind donations, sponsorships and marketing, and volunteerism/employee engagement.
  Participate in negotiations for complex, high profile or sensitive agreements, and oversee the development and execution of Gift Agreements.
  Ensure fulfilment of donor commitments and that the program is managed for ethical compliance with Daily Bread policies and procedures, financial standards, and legal requirements.
  Establish and maintain records with respect to naming, co-branding and other recognition.
  Regularly monitor and ensure that obligations as per gift agreements are met in a timely and consistent manner.
  Establish and oversee information tracking processes regarding acknowledgement, recognition, on-going communication and continued cultivation of past and current supporters.
  Identify organizational systems and processes needed to ensure success across the organization.
  Work closely with the Manager, Development Operations to ensure best and consistent practices in gift administration and acknowledgement. Create and regularly update a range of customized acknowledgement letters.
  Work closely with the Marketing team to develop the annual donor impact report and other stewardship reports and donor communication collateral.
  Contribute donor and gift information for the organization’s annual report and comparable publications, and oversee the production of donor recognition lists, plaques and other donor recognition signage.
  Provide development of and oversight for comprehensive policies, procedures and guidelines related to donor engagement and stewardship.

Event Management
  Develop an overarching event strategy for fundraising and stewardship events.
  Organize donor stewardship events, working collaboratively with the Development and Marketing teams and across the organization as needed to create donor communication collateral, compile appropriate invitation lists, engage featured program participants, create programs and provide program materials, prepare scripts and remarks as needed, and create donor awards.
  Develop and execute creative fundraising events and other initiatives that will inspire participation of desired new audiences to fundraise for and give to Daily Bread.
  Work closely with other Development and Marketing team members to promote events and to improve the online (fundraising, registration, etc.) experience for event participants.
  In collaboration with the Marketing team, work with media partners to ensure the effective coordination of annual events (CBC Sounds of the Season, BT Christmas Tree Sale) to optimize revenue and ensure sustainability of the partnership.

Management
  Provide supervision, coaching and guidance to the Stewardship Coordinator, establishing clear directions and setting “stretch” objectives.
  Develop the annual business plan and budget for the program
  Manage and monitor the budget
 Develop detailed and measurable goals and program objectives; provide reports and recommendations quarterly and as needed.

Other
  Assists the Director in developing a strategy for key influencers to engage with Daily Bread on a continuing basis.
  Other duties and special projects as directed.

Education/Experience (or equivalent)
  Experience in donor engagement from cultivation to solicitation.
  Expert knowledge of current and evolving trends in relevant field.
  Experience developing practices and procedures in a relevant field.
  Experience conceiving and implementing strategic initiatives.
  Experience managing relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  Fundraising experience in a social service setting.
  5+ years of demonstrated successful experience coordinating partnerships and events in a fundraising environment.
  5+ years of experience in direct donor relations.
  Management experience including planning, budgeting, and supervision.
  Multilingual, multicultural or cross-cultural experience desired.
  Demonstrated proficiency with MS Outlook, Word, Excel and Blackbaud products (Raiser’s Edge, Luminate, TeamRaiser).
  Post-secondary certificate/diploma in Fundraising, Non-Profit Management, Event

Planning or another related field.
  CFRE designation an asset.

  Willingness and capacity to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends.
