About this position

The Congress of Aboriginal Peoples’ (CAP) mandate is to improve the socio-economic conditions of off-reserve status and non-status Indians, Métis and Southern Inuit living in urban or rural areas. CAP holds meetings with the government and partners to find practical ways to improve federal programs, laws and services for off-reserve Indigenous Peoples.

CAP is hiring a Partnership Coordinator to coordinate the development of a Sustainability Guide on a project entitled Building Capacity for Sustainable Gender Equality Programming. Responsibilities will include the completion of an environmental scan, asset mapping, and the development of partnerships with experts in capacity building and gender equality.  This project seeks to develop standards to ensure future gender equity projects are self-sustaining and have an affective impact.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and coordination of partnerships and networks that support and progress the objectives to build capacity for gender equality programming;

  • Take appropriate actions to increase the visibility and stature of the organization promoting the mission and values of the organization both internally and externally;

  • Establish and maintain a partnership evaluation protocol that ensures that potential partner organizations are responsive, managed openly and effectively and work with similar or complimentary objectives as it relates to gender equality;

  • Plan, develop and execute a sustainability guide for gender equality programming;

  • Represent CAP’s priorities and perspectives when dealing with external stakeholders;

  • Review research, feasibility studies and business plans to develop strategies for the improvement, development and customization of programs and services;

  • Support the promotion and understanding of gender equality in Aboriginal communities;

  • Identify gaps and challenges associated with current gender equality programming and develop a strategy to promote awareness;

  • Stay current with external and internal developments in the environment for identifying gaps in gender equality programming;

  • Participate in the Department of Women and Gender Equality working groups;

  • Identify and discuss issues raised by the working groups with stakeholders and provide input to the Department of Women and Gender Equality working groups;

  • Maintain Financial Records as required under applicable regulations and company policy;

  • Provide regular reports to the Senior Manager of Business Development; and

  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in planning, business administration, marketing, aboriginal studies, or a related field; 

  • Three to five years experience in a Business/Partnership Development Management position;

  • Ability to lead a team effectively;

  • Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships both internally and externally;

  • Ability  to create, and assess feasibility studies;

  • Strong analytical and research skills;

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and relationship management skills;

  • Excellent organizational, strategic, planning and implementing skills;

  • Ability to process vague, abstract verbal and written instructions;

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;

  • Understanding of the industry and area of service;

  • Able to meet deadlines under stress and interruptions;

  • Confident with decision making in regard to determining project guidelines, purpose, following through and completion;

  • Understanding of financial reports including budgetary guidelines and project expenditures;

  • Computer  literacy, including effective working skills of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe products and e-mail required;

  • High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts;

  • Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy;

  • High level of integrity, confidentially, and accountability;

  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude;

  • A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills; and

  • Ability to communicate effectively in both official languages is an asset.

Working conditions

  • Reports to the Director of Partnership Development.

  • Work will be performed from the CAP National Office in Ottawa, Ontario;

  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals;

  • Occasional weekend and evening work and travel may be required;

  • This is a fixed term position- ends March 31, 2022, with potential for extension;

  • Salary is commensurate with experience. Continued staffing of this position is subject to annual priorities and confirmation of funding from the federal government.
