About this position

The Trent Durham Student Association (TDSA) is a not-for-profit organization representing undergraduate students of the Trent University Durham-GTA campus. Dedicated to representing the interests of its members from services to advocacy, the TDSA is looking for a passionate, experienced individual who is capable of working collaboratively with its student executive team and board of directors to execute its strategic plan, assist with new program development, and provide education and insight into managing a non-profit.

This role will be responsible for:

  • The operations of the association;

  • Supporting the executive team with regards to non-profit expertise and governance strategy;

  • Joint execution and evaluation of the strategic plan;

  • Developing and growing additional services;

  • Maintaining compliance with the Non-For-Profit Act including, but not limited to, supporting the Board of Directors in their decision making and competent minute-taking;

  • Fostering collaborative relationships with students and student leaders;

  • Assistance with the coordination of the Health and Dental Plan; and

  • Oversight of student employees and specific programs of the TDSA.

Qualifications to include:

  • Bachelor’s degree 

  • Minimum 3 - 5 years management or executive experience in the non-profit sector, with preference given to experience in student government or the post-secondary education sector

  • Nonprofit Board Experience

  • Strong boundary and advisement skills

  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills

  • Experience with accounting, including (but not limited to) commerce and QuickBooks Online, basic bookkeeping principles, and payroll preparation skills required

Additional Assets:

  • Experience with performance reviews and human resources practices

  • History of working in small, but expanding organizations

  • Experience with peer support and mentorship
