We are currently seeking a Coordinator for the Peel Region, to join our dynamic Diversion Program. Ideal candidates should be passionate about serving youth and families, have superior interpersonal and open communication skills, and are flexible, and compassionate.

In this 0.5 FTE (35 hours) contract Bargaining Unit Position, incumbents are expected to:

  • Provide alternative, community based responses to deal more effectively with young people in contact with the Youth Court and police and to provide services mandated by the Youth Criminal Justice Act
  • Respond to referrals from Crown Attorney’s office for Extra Judicial Sanctions and Peel Regional Police for Extra Judicial Measures
  • Provide information to clients, caregivers and others regarding the Extra Judicial Sanctions Program/Extra Judicial Measures Program
  • Develop new and innovative program sanctions/measures to address the changing needs of the program and clients
  • Provide information to clients, parents and others regarding the Extra Judicial Sanctions Program/Extra Judicial Measures Program
  • Facilitate group and individual programming, as required
  • Maintain professional documentation, in the form of intake, service plans, discharge summaries and/or case summaries
  • Provide statistical information related to the service provided to each youth and participate in program evaluation
  • Provide training to volunteers who support client and program needs
  • Establish and maintain professional alliances with collateral agencies/organizations
  • Work flexible hours related to the needs of the clients, evening work will be required

  • Undergraduate Degree or Community College diploma in a social science or related field
  • Knowledge of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, Provincial Offences Act and the Extra Judicial Sanctions/Extra Judicial Measures Model
  • Demonstrated ability to work with multi-need clients within the justice system and solid interviewing and assessment skills
  • Must possess a valid Ontario Driver’s License and provide own transportation

Salary Range: $37,185 - $46,230 (0.5 FTE)
