ABOUT THE TEAM

The Sustainable Finance Solutions (SFS) Team is a new, small and rapid growth business that is responsible for developing and bringing ESG products to multi-national corporations and financial institutions. Our services include green/social/sustainability bond second-party opinions, annual compliance reviews, and other services that help our clients to provide sustainability insights to investors and lenders. This successful new business is already surpassing sales forecasts and has been recognized as “the most impressive second opinion provider” by Global Capital for the past two years. POSITION PURPOSE

As part of the Sustainable Finance Solutions team, the Associate will contribute to the growth of the sustainable finance market by supporting the evaluation of clients’ green, social and sustainability bond/loan frameworks in line with market expectations and industry standards. Based on the Americas team, this role will involve an emphasis on Latin American clients, while supporting other regional teams as needed. Key elements of the role will include conducting second-party opinions and annual reviews on frameworks, involving desk-based research and engagement with issuers. While the primary focus of the role will be on green, social and sustainability bonds/loans, the Associate may also be called upon to support other customized projects on the Sustainable Finance Solutions team as needed. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the execution of sustainability bond second-party opinions. This often requires working on multiple projects across different regions and time zones simultaneously;
  • Servicing Latin American clients via Spanish research and communication;Over time, engage with issuers and underwriters regarding framework development;
  • Develop expertise in sustainable debt financing, including current and emerging trends, issues, drivers, risks and opportunities, key players, best practices, the regulatory landscape, etc.
  • Develop sustainability knowledge and expertise across a variety of themes and sectors;
  • Liaise with and develop relationships with colleagues across global teams and offices; and
  • Prepare well-written and high-quality client deliverables

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Excellent English business writing skills;
  • Spanish fluency (written & oral);
  • Passion for sustainability and demonstrated interest in sustainable finance and green bonds;
  • 2-4 years of related work experience;
  • Degree in related discipline (business, finance, environment and/or social sciences);
  • Client-centric and commercial approach;
  • Strong work ethic and eagerness to learn in a constantly evolving and fast-paced environment;
  • Strong ability to analyze and interpret data, while maintaining a critical approach;
  • Accuracy and attention to detail;
  • Ability to work on several projects simultaneously, across different regions;
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills;  
  • Alignment with Sustainalytics’ mission, vision and values;
  • Positive attitude, Innovative and entrepreneurial.
