Good Shepherd Centres Hamilton, a ministry of the Hospitaller Order of St. John of God, strives to enhance the quality of life for all who seek assistance and support in our community. Youth Services provides support to 15 co-ed homeless youth ages 16-21 as well as a 21 bed youth shelter, including youth who have ongoing contact or involvement with CAS/CCAS/Probation/Youth Justice System/ AY/ADGS and other family counseling agencies. Staff members support clients to reach personal goals and to have a satisfying and meaningful life in the community. An opportunity currently exists at Youth Services – Notre Dame House in the role of:
Full Time Nights Youth Support Worker
In this role, you will work to make a difference in the lives of Clients living at Youth Services. Services to clients include assessment, planning, crisis prevention and intervention, supportive counselling, education, advocacy, social/recreational programming, life skills teaching ie: cooking and linkages with other community services.
Primary case management and community development skills acquired through a post-secondary education in social services such as Child and Youth Worker, with a demonstrated commitment to the mission values of hospitality, availability, responsibility, adaptability, quality and dignity. Must have some experience working with Youth. Knowledge of and experience working in residential treatment for Children under the Ministry Guidelines are a plus. CPR certification or willingness to be certified. Ability to speak French and/or other languages considered an asset.
