IFEX is a dynamic global network of over 115 non-governmental organizations worldwide that defend and promote freedom of expression and information.  

We are looking for someone to lead and manage IFEX’s day-to-day operations, including our finance, human resources, and management systems. 

In this role, you will: 

  • Lead, motivate, and manage the Operations staff team and relevant contractors
  • Manage the monthly and annual accounting functions
  • Develop, implement, and monitor policies and procedures related to finance, human resources and other organizational systems
  • Oversee administrative components of the grants process and overall membership fees process
  • Oversee information technology and communications services, facility management activities, and risk management activities
  • Ensure project management systems are implemented and aligned with organizational goals and needs
  • Develop and manage assigned budgets 

You bring to the role:
  • 5+ years’ experience in organizational planning, human resources and financial management including direct staff supervision, and management
  • University degree in related disciplines or equivalent experience
  • Experience working with not for profit and/or international organizations
  • Experience with accounting and financial management in a non-profit context
  • Experience with human resource management best practices
  • Thorough knowledge of and proficiency in office administrative practices
  • Knowledge of a range of applications and software including human resource management software, QuickBooks, Microsoft Office and Mac operating systems. Advanced knowledge of MS Excel an asset
  • Excellent organisation and administrative skills with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a variety of contexts
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English. Spanish, Arabic and/or French an asset
  • Eligibility to work in Canada; occasional travel might be required

The work environment: The work is rewarding as well as demanding and dynamic, dealing with diverse and challenging issues. We are committed to maintaining a working environment that is positive, professional and collaborative. 

Payment, terms and conditions: Starting salary is CAD$60,000 (commensurate with experience), and a comprehensive benefits package. This is a full-time, regular position. Start date is as soon as possible.
