BACKGROUND

Farm Radio International (FRI) is seeking an individual with experience in the area of monitoring, evaluation, research and learning (MERL) to support M&E activities as well as contribute to project report production and delivery. The position will be based out of the Ottawa head office of FRI with potential for significant travel where needed.

The position will be part of the FRI Knowledge Management Team that has the mandate to increase the extent to which FRI uses, generates and shares knowledge for and through its work in interactive radio for development.

 

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

 

Research project support

Under the supervision of the Knowledge Management Team Lead and working closely with third party researchers and the project Principal Investigator in Malawi, contribute expertise in research methods, tools and processes to the FRI/Farm Radio Trust Harnessing ICT to scale-up agricultural solutions research project.

  • Analyze quantitative and qualitative data collected at various points in the project;
  • Aid in report writing and other publications with Knowledge Management Team Lead;
  • Coordinate learning events for external stakeholders and researchers.

 

Monitoring & Evaluation documentation support

Under the supervision of the Knowledge Management Team Lead and working closely with Knowledge Management Officers in FRI country offices and key project staff, contribute expertise in monitoring, evaluation, research and learning (MERL) to ongoing M&E activities in FRI projects.

  • Advise in the design, conduct and write-up of evaluation surveys and other M&E tools;
  • Participate in planning and reviewing ongoing monitoring and learning activities as projects are being implemented;
  • Coordinate and aid in the writing of key project reports (English and French).

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in evaluation, statistics, data analysis or other related subject (other degrees may be considered if skillset is deemed acceptable);
  • A minimum of one year of experience in Monitoring and Evaluation;
  • Experience in basic descriptive statistics;
  • Strong research, evaluation, data analysis and writing skills;
  • Intermediate knowledge and experience in mixed methods research (quantitative and qualitative);
  • Fluent in English (written and verbal);
  • Fluent in French (written and verbal);
  • Good organization skills and ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines ;
  • Comfortable working under minimal supervision and with limited resources;
  • Willingness to travel;
  • Sense of humour an asset.
