Working closely with the communications, philanthropy, and finance teams, the communications and fundraising assistant’s primary responsibilities include: receiving and entering gifts into Raiser’s Edge; coordinating tax receipts; and coordinating and reviewing the translation of materials between English and French. The communications and fundraising assistant will support other initiatives, as required.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Fundraising

  • Coordinate gift processing, receipting, gift analysis, and donor database maintenance (Raiser’s Edge) in compliance with regulatory authorities.
  • Interpret fundraising data and help prepare quarterly fundraising analysis report.
  • Support the execution of fundraising campaigns.
  • Support the ongoing cultivation and stewardship of donors to WUSC’s programming, primarily through telephone and email communications.
  • Support WUSC’s volunteer peer-to-peer fundraising initiatives, in collaboration with various project teams.

Translation Coordination

  • Coordinate the external translation of communications and fundraising materials.
  • Be the final reviewer on external French communications to ensure accuracy, quality, and consistent voice.
  • Provide guidance to translators on how best to translate the WUSC voice to French.
  • Respond to internal requests for direct English-to-French and French-to-English translations of short texts, particularly for email and social media, as necessary.

Other

  • Respond to inquiries from the general and fundraising email and phone lines.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field;
  • A minimum of two years’ experience working in fundraising;
  • Experience in donation processing and tax receipting, and knowledge of CRA regulations essential;
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge a strong asset;
  • Experience with CanadaHelps, Raisin, and Mailchimp platforms an asset;
  • Experience undertaking and reviewing English to French translations;
  • Experience in a non-profit organization and/or international development preferred;
  • Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office, Google Suite) essential;
  • Demonstrated commitment to the mission and values of WUSC;
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and have an ability to multi-task;
  • Motivated, creative, hardworking, optimistic, and a team player; and
  • Must be available for occasional weekend and evening work. Time in lieu will be provided.
