Position Overview
The Promotions Coordinator is responsible for IGNITE marketing and communications campaigns across North, Lakeshore, Guelph-Humber, Orangeville and satellite campuses. Seeking sponsorship opportunities where appropriate, the Promotions Coordinator manages the planning, execution, monitoring and analysis of promotional campaigns designed to create awareness of the organization, its advocacy, services and programs, while ensuring brand delivery and adherence.


Responsibilities

  1. Promotions Staff

  • Hiring, training and daily management of the Promotions team – part-time student staff in the Communications department at North and Lakeshore campuses. Carry out staff appraisal and manage performance.

  • Plan, manage and delegate campaigns for execution by lead promotions assistant and part-time staff.

 

  1. Marketing and Communications Campaigns

  • Plan, execute and monitor daily operational aspects of large-scale IGNITE promotional campaigns across North, University of Guelph-Humber, Lakeshore, Orangeville and satellite campuses.

  • Develop campaigns to effectively target specific on-campus student communities (ex. LGBTQ+, ARC, Bridge Program, etc.)

  • Work with internal IGNITE departments, specifically Executives, Events Coordinators and Digital Media Coordinator for support and online publicity.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with Humber/U of GH administration to ensure smooth campaign delivery and to determine existing events and initiatives to collaborate on for further promotional opportunity.

 

Sponsorship

  • Research and develop relationships with student-relevant external companies for potential sponsorship. Sponsorships are to be linked to specific promotional campaigns and can include the activity itself or giveaways.
  • Develop sponsorship package detailing levels and associated costs for director approval.
 

Procurement

  • Responsible for the planning and purchase of all Communications department swag items for the promotion of IGNITE services, events and advocacy initiatives.
  • Ensure swag item or giveaway activity targets specific on-campus student groups.
  • Develop calendar for swag giveaways throughout the academic year, aligned with organizational initiatives and goals.


Qualifications

  • Minimum four (4) year degree in Marketing, Advertising, Public Relations

  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience working in Communications/Public Relations

  • Project management certificate and/or relevant experience considered an asset

  • Superior ability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment and coordinate multiple projects

  • Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication. Strong presentation skills with the ability to advise senior management on strategic communication matters

  • Demonstrated experience in leading and supervising multiple teams

  • Highly quantitative thinker, extremely detail oriented, able to manage/execute multiple ongoing projects

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including ability to present to internal and external groups and ability to guide, influence others

  • Ability to work effectively in a high pressure environment, meet strict deadlines and multitask with ease
