About this position

The Position

The Manager, Financial Risk will play two key roles: first, provide a financial risk assessment of all loan applications that will play a critical role in the loan delivery process. Second, the Manager, Financial Risk will assess and seek to improve Windmill’s risk management practices, internal controls and all processes related to credit risk across the loan program. The Manager’s work will play an important role in the success of Windmill’s clients, its loan repayment and the sustainability of the organization.

This position reports to the National Director, Finance & Risk and works within the Finance & Risk team.
                                         
The Manager, Financial Risk will have the following responsibilities:

Financial Risk Assessment
  • Assess loan applications specifically for default risk
  • Work closely with Client Success team to develop and revise current organizational risk models
  • Analyze portfolio performance to identify risk factors at early stage 
  • Co-ordinate with marketing team to optimize the risk profile of incoming clients
  • Develop analytical tools ranging from customer segmentation to scorecard development 
  • Develop forecasting methods and monitor the performance of different acquisition vintages 
  • Analysis of opportunity and risk of new product offerings 
  • Assist with the creation of cash flow models that are used to assess financial soundness including appropriate debt covenant levels, debt service and repayment capabilities, and to structure the appropriate financings.
  • Other duties are required and assigned

  • Is available to work outside regular business hours, when necessary

Qualifications and Knowledge
  • Post-secondary degree in Finance, Applied Math, Econ, Computer Science, Statistics or related field preferred 
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in related risk assessment field
  • Previous employment with a Canadian financial institution an asset
  • Related experience that demonstrates growth and the progression of skills and responsibilities
  • Data analysis
  • Expert level experience with MS office and internet applications
  • SQL skills
  • Financial Modelling
  • Comfortable learning new software
  • Has knowledge of common digital media platforms and is familiar with using these platforms for marketing and outreach

Working Conditions:
  • Full-time (37.5 hours/week)
  • Flexibility to occasionally work outside of regular business when necessary
  • Shared open-office space

Remuneration:
  • Commensurate with experience
