We are seeking a deeply motivated and highly skilled fund development professional who will thrive on a fast-paced team that seeks to deliver maximum impact for CODE’s charitable mission. The Fund Development Manager will have well-honed relationship development and research skills; possess an entrepreneurial spirit; and bring fresh thinking to existing institutional relationships.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

The Fund Development Manager is responsible for managing existing corporate, foundation and association accounts (approximately 35). This position will plan and execute proven engagement strategies that result in both supporter retention and increased giving, while working in close collaboration with the Director of Fund Development to conduct prospect research to identify significant new qualified leads and to aid in the execution of special fundraising initiatives/events.

  • Manage and grow portfolio of existing corporate, foundation and association donors – develop efficient stewardship strategies to maximize lifetime value
  • Meet annually agreed revenue targets
  • Work closely with Director of Fund Development to qualify and advance significant new institutional leads at $100k+ with a specific focus on the extractive industry and philanthropic foundations both in Canada and abroad
  • Manage timely and personalized gift acknowledgements of all gifts over $5,000 in line with CODE’s gift recognition strategy.
  • Assist with planning and execution of major donor cultivation events, international field visits, major gifts campaigns, hosting of international guests and donor meetings as required
  • Work with Legacy Leaders (consultancy) to execute multi-year planned giving campaign, provide regular reporting on performance
  • Working closely with the International Programs team and communications staff, research and write high-quality proposals, mid-year updates and final narrative reports for all donors giving restricted gifts
  • Ensure full and effective use of CODE’s donor data management system (Raiser’s Edge) for maintaining accurate constituent records, reporting, analyzing data and prospect management
  • Manage relevant revenue and expense budgets and provide regular cash flow forecasts
  • Participate actively in annual work-planning and budgeting activities

 

Qualifications

The Fund Development Manager will be attentive to details and outcomes, possess strong verbal and written communication skills, and respect the confidentiality required around donor information.  He or she will be a strong team player who will set goals and meet deadlines.

Required education and experience:

  • Completion of post-secondary degree in related field
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in non-profit sector, preferably in a fundraising role

Essential skills:

  • Ability to manage a fast-paced and varied workload, including multiple projects and deadlines
  • Ability to think strategically and act proactively with limited supervision
  • Experience using Raiser’s Edge or other donor data management system
  • Positive and flexible approach to working in a busy office as part of a team
  • Extraordinary attention to detail, including ability to proof-read and edit
  • Proficiency in the Adobe Create Suite (Acrobat, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere Pro)
  • A highly reliable and conscientious worker
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication and superior analytical skills
  • Demonstrated success managing and forging relationships with a wide range of supporters and service providers
  • Strong administrative skills including MS Office
  • Thrives in a small, achievement-focused team and in culture that values positivity, professionalism, results and accountability
