About this position
The purpose of this position is to identify and cultivate corporate and individual philanthropy opportunities to ensure revenue and growth for Autism Speaks Canada. The Philanthropy Manager is a key point of contact for philanthropic prospects and will be responsible for representing Autism Speaks Canada’s mission priorities to a diverse and growing account portfolio. A successful candidate must be exceptional at developing relationships while successfully representing a variety of opportunities such as campaigns, major gifts, corporate partnership, and events. This position is annually responsible for achieving revenue targets in the +$500,000 range.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Meet / exceed specific annual revenue goals aligned with strategic organizational priorities.
- Establish mechanisms to monitor results against plans, regularly communicate status of plans, and initiate corrective actions when needed.
- Demonstrate expertise in prospecting and selling by building an individual and corporate account portfolio.
- Conduct research and analysis to determine giving interests and solicitation mechanisms for individual and corporate relationships.
- Within an account management process, track and manage a portfolio using ASC’s internal database.
- Deliver an exemplary donor-centric stewardship program, delivering ongoing communications materials that demonstrate impact and accountability.
- Demonstrate knowledge of diverse ways to give, ASC mission and programs, and synergies with prospects to foster sustainable individual and corporate relationships.
- Maintain an up to date working knowledge of significant developments and trends in fundraising and philanthropy.
- Demonstrate strong collaborative communications with cross-functional teams and leadership volunteers.
RELATIONSHIPS:
Key Internal Relationships: National Director of Development; National Walk and Community Events Department; Programming Department; Operations Department; Marketing & Communications Department.
Key External Relationships: National Fundraising Committee; key individuals; key volunteers who work for corporate partners.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years individual and/or corporate fundraising experience
- Minimum 3 years volunteer development experience

- Comfortable working in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment
- Superb interpersonal skills; exceptional active listening, intuition and observation skills; and the ability to build strong relationships
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills - ability to inspire, motivate, and communicate the ASC mission
